Mac Wright today became the 27th player to play List A cricket (one day domestic or higher) after playing first for the ACT. This doesn’t include the 34 players who played for the Canberra Comets between 1997/98 and 1999/00.

The list of players who played List A Cricket after playing for the ACT are:

Greg Rowell (1991/92), Jason Floros (2010/11) and Alex Ross (2012/13) also played List A cricket but did not represent the ACT at a senior level but represented the Territory at an Underage Youth Carnival/s.

Please find attached a statistical guide for matches played in the New South Wales Premier 1st Grade Competition from 1893/94 until 2016/17. In total, there have been 15,411 First Grade matches played in the competition on 96 different grounds and 38 different clubs/associations. A further 537 matches have been abandoned.

It includes statistics from the two day competition under it’s various guises, limited overs competitions under various names (including the Rothman’s Cup) and the Twenty20 Competition under it’s various names.

This is the first time that this statistical guide has been completed. I have tried to have the statistics as complete as possible but due to the large number of matches, there are currently a number of inconsistencies in my database which is currently being worked through. Therefore there is a possibility that this guide may contain errors but they will be corrected throughout the season. Although there are a large number of statistics in this publication, the breadth and range of the statistics have been curtailed until such inconsistencies have been found. In future editions of this guide, there will be a greater range of statistics included.

Sydney 1st Grade Statistics Guide 2017-18

Round 2 of the Queensland Premier League 1st Grade competition saw Sunshine Coast, Sandgate-Redcliffe, Valley and University of Queensland score victories which gave them two from two for the competition so far.

Ipswich/Logan hosted their first home match of the season and sent in Northern Suburbs but the visitors were able to post an imposing 2 for 323 off their 50 overs. Tom Healy, son of former Australian wicket-keeper Ian, batted throughout the innings for an unbeaten 136 off 146 balls. Michael Dawson made 87 while captain Joe Burns was dismissed one short of his half century. In reply, the home side was dismissed for 267 with Daniel Wilson top scoring with an impressive 161 off just 131 deliveries. Unfortunately, no other batsmen could go further than 25. Bernard Bester was the best of the bowlers with 3-53.

Western Suburbs hosted Toombul in their clash and the home side inserted the visitors. The visitors were restricted to 9 for 205 off their 50 overs with captain Cameron Leeder top scoring with 48. Sam Doggett with 3 for 25 and Blake Edwards with 3 for 41 were the pick of the bowlers. In reply, the home side made the runs with ease, passing the target within 40 overs to score a bonus point victory only 4 wickets down. Chris Sabburg was the top scorer with 80 off 72 deliveries while Queensland batsman Sam Truloff was unbeaten with 64. Jacob Wood was the pick of the bowlers for Toombul with 2 for 29 off 7 overs.

Sunshine Coast recorded their second win from two matches when they defeated Wynnum/Manly by 15 runs in a close contest at John Blanck Oval. Winning the toss and batting first, Sunshine Coast made 6 for 243 off their 50 overs. Kobi Francis-Griggs top scored with an even 100 not out while captain Alecz Day made 49. Alister McDermott was the leading wicket taker with 2 for 59 off his 10 overs. In reply, Wynnum/Manly were 3 for 59 and then 5 for 135 but got close and nearly pulled off a victory against the home side. Nathan Rabnott top scored with 71, well supported by state player Jason Floros who made 45. Sam Gardiner with 3 for 33 and Wade Johnston with 3 for 46 were the leading wicket takers.

South Brisbane visited Sandgate-Redcliffe but were unable to come away with the victory going down by 5 wickets. South Brisbane consistently lost wickets throughout their innings and was dismissed for 269 on the last ball of their allotted 50 overs. Aryan Jain was the only player to pass fifty for the visitors making 54, while Nathan Rimmington continued his early season good form taking 3 for 45 off his 10 overs. In reply, the home side was in a bit of trouble at 5 for 163 before Lloyd Aspin took the blade to the bowlers making an unbeaten 96 off 66 overs with 8 fours and 6 sixes. Bryce Street and Chris Hemphrey also made half centuries for Sandgate-Redcliffe.

In another close match, Valley held off Redlands to score a 16 run victory at Peter Burge Oval. Winning the toss and batting first, Valley made 9 for 277 off their 50 overs. Craig McElligott top scored with 64, while Jack Wildermuth made 60. Marnus Labuschange was the leading wicket taker with 3 for 60 off 10 overs. In reply Redlands was dismissed for 261 with four overs remaining in their innings. Australian ODI batsman Sam Heazlett top scored with 68 while James Peirson was the only other player to pass 50 for the Tigers. Jack Wildermuth followed up his half century with 3 for 50 off 8 overs.

In the final match, University of Queensland recorded an easy 98 run victory at Bill Pippen Oval against Gold Coast. Sent in to bat, University was dismissed for 277 with one ball remaining in their innings. Hamish Gardner was the only player to pass 50 for the match, with 66 off 78 deliveries. Xavier Bartlett was the top wicket taker with 4 for 47 off 8.5 overs. In reply, Gold Coast were never really in the hunt, being 7 for 110 at one stage before being dismissed for 179. Opener, Oscar Richardson top scored with 48. Dugie Hill lead the wicket takers with 3 for 57 while Scott Walter, Dylan D’Roza and Michael Philipson all took 2 wickets.

The first round of the Queensland Premier Grade Cricket competition kicked off last Saturday with the first limited overs round. The Queensland Premier competition is the first southern capital city competition to start in 2017/18, almost 3 weeks before the start of any other grade competition.

Sunshine Coast visited Ian Healy Oval to take on Northern Suburbs and came away with a tight 10 run victory. Leo Carter top scored with a massive unbeaten 156 including 18 fours and 5 sixes. No other player passed 50 while Jack Prestwidge and Bernard Bester both took two wickets. In reply Northern Suburbs came close and finished their 50 overs at 8 for 268. Michael Dawson top scored with 81 while former Australian Test player Joe Burns made 51. Alecz Day was the best of the bowlers with 5 for 47 off his 10 overs.

Toombul hosted Sandgate-Redcliffe but it was the vistors who came away with a large bonus point victory. Sent in, Sandgate-Redcliffe made 5 for 339 off their allocated overs. Charlie Hemphrey top scored with 143 while Matt Doran and Zac Keune supported him with half centuries. In reply, the home side could only manage 196 before being bowled out in the 41st over. Captain Cameron Leeder top scored with 57 while Nathan Rimmington took 3 for 28 off 8 overs and Charlie Hemphrey backed up his century with 3 for 33 off his 10 overs.

Valley hosted Ipswich/Logan and the home side came away with a strong bonus point victory. Sent in, Ipswich/Logan made 8 for 228 off their allocated 50 overs with opener Daniel Wilson top scoring with 117. No other batsmen passed 30 while Josh Dascombe took 3 for 43 off his 10 overs. Valley made the chase with ease, passing the Ipswich/Logan total in the 30th over, three wickets down. Captain, Andrew Gode dominated the innings making an unbeaten 139 off 89 deliveries with 11 fours and 10 sixes.

University of Queensland hosted Western Suburbs at WEP Harris Oval and came away with an easy eight wicket victory. Winning the toss and batting first, Western Suburbs made 7 for 221 off their 50 overs. The captain Patrick Collins top scored with 60 with Anthony Atkinson supporting the total with an unbeaten 56. Jack Carty and Devon Endersby both took two wickets for the home side. Captain Scott Henry batted through the innings with an unbeaten 102, putting on an unbroken partnership of 149 with Jano Coetzee who made 64. Blake Edwards was the only wicket taker with 2 for 42.

Wynnum/Manly hosted Gold Coast in their opening round clash but was unable to come away with the points. Batting first, Gold Coast made an impressive 8 for 291 with Cameron Francis top scoring with 89 and new recruit Lewin Maladay making 69. Cameron Trask was the top wicket taker with 4 for 52 off 10 overs. In reply Wynnum/Manly were dismissed for 203 in the 38th over. Nicholas King was the top scorer with a big hitting 72 off 36 overs with 10 fours and 4 sixes. Jason Floros was the second highest scorer with 44 after taking 2 for 33 with the ball. Matthew Kuhnemann was the best with the ball with 3 for 26 off 8 overs.

In the final match, South Brisbane hosted Redlands at Peter Burge Oval. After being sent in, South Brisbane made 6 for 342 off their 50 overs. Captain, Ben Cutting top scored with 100 off 63 balls, Emmanuel Peterson, Jamie Eccles and Jake Cross also made half centuries. In reply, Redlands made a valiant response before being dismissed for 299. State batsman Marcus Labuschagne top scored with 101 off 104 balls, while wicket-keeper James Peirson made 70 off 49 balls at the top of the order. Michael Wells-Peris was the best with the ball with 3 for 54 off his ten overs.
