With twenty deeply talented squads vying for ultimate dominance, the opening rounds have already delivered incredible action and set a blistering tone for the grueling months ahead.
Adding to the sense of occasion this summer, Cricket NSW and Kingsgrove Sports recently announced a multi-year extension to their historic partnership, coinciding with the iconic sporting retailer’s 50th anniversary. Founders Harry and Rohini Solomons have solidified their status as the longest-serving commercial partners of Cricket NSW. As part of the renewed agreement, Kingsgrove Sports proudly continues as the naming rights sponsor for the Premier T20 competition, while generously expanding their support of the youth pathways system by securing the naming rights for the AW Green Shield, Brewers Shield, and Poidevin-Gray Shield competitions.
As teams scramble to establish an early foothold on the freshly forged club championship ladders, the depth of class across the grades has been undeniably apparent. The season kicked off with the frenetic pace of the T20 format, showcasing brutal opening partnerships, desperate run-chases, and clinical death-bowling masterclasses. The sheer intensity of the initial double-header weekend has proven that the race for silverware across all formats will be a brutal, highly entertaining marathon.
Round 1 – 19 September 2026 (Kingsgrove Sports T20 Cup)
Manly-Warringah v Mosman
The Twenty20 summer erupted into life at Bill Ball Oval as Mosman chased down Manly-Warringah’s total with clinical precision to secure a six-wicket victory. The Manly-Warringah batters struggled to build momentum, mustering a modest 9 for 103 from their allocation, heavily reliant on a brisk 39 from Andrew Boulton. Jake Turner proved the destroyer for Mosman, ripping through the order to secure outstanding figures of 3 for 14 to firmly restrict the hosts. In response, Joe Colgan anchored the chase beautifully with an explosive 50, ensuring Mosman reached the target with plenty of time to spare.
Penrith v Fairfield-Liverpool
Fairfield-Liverpool laid down an imposing marker for the season, overpowering Penrith by 40 runs at Howell Oval. Western Suburbs v UTS North Sydney
A surgical bowling display laid the foundation for UTS North Sydney to secure a comprehensive eight-wicket triumph over Western Suburbs. Jamieson Hedges tore through the Western Suburbs top order, claiming 3 for 28 and leaving the hosts reeling at 6 for 102 despite defiant knocks of 28 from both Joshua Clarke and Nicholas Cutler. Atharv Deshpande finished with a masterclass 66 not out, while former New Zealand international Martin Guptill, making his debut for the club, wound back the clock with a brutal 55 to propel the total to a daunting 2 for 161. Northern District fought valiantly in the chase, propelled by a blistering 41 not out from Cameron Tunks and a solid 34 from Addison Sherriff. However, the sheer weight of the required run rate and a crucial double-strike from the versatile Deshpande eventually stalled their momentum at 6 for 144.
St George v Sydney
St George delivered a devastatingly flawless performance, obliterating Sydney by 10 wickets in a totally one-sided affair at Bensons Lane. Sydney initially showed great promise, with Connor Carroll blasting an impressive 56 and Chaitnya Sharma adding 31 to help compile a competitive 7 for 142. Any hopes of a tight contest were swiftly dismantled by a breathtaking opening stand from Sam Heazlett and Luke Bartier. Heazlett was in a truly punishing mood, blazing his way to a magnificent 92 not out, while Bartier provided brilliant support with an unbeaten 49 to seal the victory in just over 12 overs.
Hawkesbury v UNSW
A superb all-round masterclass from Ben Mitchell guided UNSW to a comfortable seven-wicket triumph over Hawkesbury. The Hawkesbury innings stumbled constantly against relentless pressure, folding for 150, despite spirited knocks of 32 from both Aarush Soni and Josh Kann. Mitchell was practically unplayable with the ball, snaring sensational figures of 4 for 12 to cripple the middle order in a decisive spell. He then traded leather for willow, hammering a brutal 62 to set up the chase, before Mahsen Narvel iced the game with an unbeaten 67.
Gordon v Campbelltown Camden
Spectators were treated to an absolute run-fest at Grahame Thomas Oval as Campbelltown Camden hunted down Gordon’s mammoth total to secure a thrilling five-wicket win. Gordon appeared to have batted the opposition out of the contest, compiling an intimidating 8 for 199 on the back of an explosive 78 from Jayllen Naganayagam and a rapid 59 not out from Jaylen Johnston. Campbelltown Camden refused to wilt under the pressure, fuelled by a spectacular 69 from Justin Mosca at the top of the order. Henry Railz (34) and Blake Smith (32 not out) maintained the frenetic scoring rate, completing an epic heist in the 18th over.
Bankstown v Eastern Suburbs
Bankstown held their nerve in a fiercely contested battle, edging out Eastern Suburbs by 12 runs. Angus Campbell (50) and William Bosisto (43) provided the backbone of the Bankstown innings, weathering a brilliant spell of 4 for 24 from Darcy Mooney to post a competitive 9 for 165. Eastern Suburbs looked dangerous in the chase, with Max Glen striking a fluid 46 and Matthew Moran compiling 28 to keep the required rate within reach. Parramatta v Western Suburbs
Parramatta secured a dominant 32-run victory over Western Suburbs in a clinical display at Old Kings Oval. Andrew Calvert was the undisputed star of the first innings, unleashing a majestic 68 to propel his side to a challenging total of 7 for 155. Western Suburbs fought hard to stay in the contest, led by a gritty and determined 50 from Joshua Clarke. The Parramatta bowling unit, however, hunted in packs, with Sumair Sira delivering a destructive spell of 4 for 30 to completely dismantle the middle order and bundle the chase out for 123.
Eastern Suburbs v Sutherland
Eastern Suburbs bounced back strongly in Round 2, securing a thrilling 19-run victory over Sutherland in a high-scoring epic. Matthew Moran played an innings of immense character and power, blasting a spectacular 84 to carry his side to an imposing 7 for 173. Sutherland’s response was spectacular, driven almost entirely by a breathtaking 79 from Arnav Raina that had the Eastern Suburbs fielders scrambling. Once Raina departed, the momentum swung violently back to the bowling side, with Marcus Atallah (3 for 24) and Moran (3 for 28) tearing through the lower order to dismiss Sutherland for 154.
Sydney University v Hawkesbury
Sydney University produced a disciplined performance to overcome Hawkesbury by 17 runs in a low-scoring scrap. The students battled hard to reach 7 for 132, anchored by crucial contributions from Damien Mortimer (34) and Tim Cummins (26). Hawkesbury’s Ryan Fletcher was exceptional with the ball, claiming 3 for 32 to keep the total within striking distance. The run chase was a tense, grinding affair, with Daniel Solway (38), William Bosisto (32), and Tyran Liddiard (32) taking Bankstown to the absolute brink of victory. However, the Gordon attack held their nerve incredibly well in the dying moments, restricting Bankstown to 6 for 149 in a heart-stopping finale.
St George v UNSW
St George maintained their flawless start to the season with a commanding 39-run dismantling of UNSW. Peter Francis (34) and Sam Heazlett (30) provided vital runs to push the St George total to a very defendable 6 for 155, navigating a testing spell from UNSW’s Ben Mitchell (3 for 31). UNSW’s chase never truly recovered from a devastating opening burst by Kamal Singh Airee, who ripped the heart out of the top order with incredible figures of 4 for 6. Despite a brave 49 from Mitchell, the UNSW batting lineup collapsed entirely, rolled for just 116.
Mosman v Penrith
Penrith snatched a vital two-wicket victory over Mosman in an incredibly tense encounter at Howell Oval. Mosman set a target of 139, anchored by a solid 41 from Angus Tesoriero and a steady 32 from James Greenslade. The Penrith chase was a roller-coaster, underpinned by a fantastic 48 from Jack Jobson, who held the innings together under immense pressure. Despite a double-strike from Fergus Fergusson, the lower order scrambled over the line with just a single ball remaining.
UTS North Sydney v Blacktown
Blacktown continued their rampant form, brushing aside UTS North Sydney with an emphatic eight-wicket victory. UTS North Sydney posted a competitive 7 for 143, heavily reliant on an unbeaten 48 from Dilraj Singh and a steady 37 not out from Joel Austin. Vansh Bhatia was the pick of the Blacktown bowlers, bagging 3 for 33 to restrict the total.
